blogs: key to the dynamic website

We often recommend the use of blogs for businesses when approaching a website for them. That might seem a little odd if you think of blogs as i used to, that they are personal free-association online journals. Yes, there are those that have personal blogs that do divulge just about anything on their mind, but that isn't really what i am referring to here.

A blog can simply be the free avenue in which a dynamic website can exist while still being professional. Moreover, a company can be more free to show more personality, flavor and experience through a blog than a website. When it comes down to it, a website needs to have a level of professionalism that can win over potential clients. Coupled with this website should (not always, but often) be a blog that also supports your brand to win over potential clients. Both of them working together can give a broader-reaching response to question of "who is your company".

Recently, we helped Closeknit Clothing setup a blog. With their focus on fashion within an urban market, this sort of avenue is perfect medium for their intended audience. We branded their blog to match the look of their already-existing website so that both of them complement each other and further the brand of Closeknit Clothing.

We also added in the capability for visitors to subcribe to future blog posts. Then, when Closeknit updates their blog, subscribers will automatically get e-mailed and therefore this can be treated as an ongoing e-mail newsletter.

having fun with the brand

Sometimes i need to step outside of the norm to design something for the sake of designing something. You know, "art for art's sake".

In this case, i wanted to be a little more playful with the Wold Creative Group logo concepts. With a logo, the brand recognition that encompasses the whole of a company within a symbol, one can hold onto the rigidity of the original design too much. I know that i have that tendency sometimes...and for good reason. With consistency, comes recognition. But, i do think that there is a time and place to let go of some of the standards and create something new with the framework of a logo in order to convey a different message. That is essentially what i did here.

enjoy.

new website - sneak peek

We have done what about 30 other companies have done and hired ourselves to re-design our own website, wolcreative.com. With dynamic navigation, RSS feeds, JAVSCRIPT, AJAX, forms, client login, HTML optimization...etc, it is going to be sweet (completely objective observation there).

the sneak peek is below but here's the best part...the preview is absolutely free! (what can i say, shameless marketer here)

winter sports school brochure

While attending a few educational and sporting events, the Winter Sports School in Park City has been able to further their exposure within their market through a newly designed brochure. The focus of this printed piece was to both highlight the academic excellence that the Winter Sports School provides as well as the diverse athletic programs that this school can accommodate.

On a side note, 2 of the 9 total USA Olympic gold medals at the 2006 Olympics were alumni of the Winter Sports School in Park City. Not too shabby.

powder safari

Powder Mountain has a daily back-country cat tour called the Powder Safari. This essentially means that you can ride the cat up and track virgin powder all day with seven of your closest friends. One of the unique features of the Powder Safari is that it will be able to take people on tours well after the mountain itself closes.

Here is a recent poster that we did to highlight the Powder Safari.

in the works

Even though we haven't shown current projects that are in the works, i think that now is the time to show you what we are working on. I am particularly excited about some new websites that we are working on currently.

One example of a website that we have begun production on is for Brach Design, a contemporary salt lake city architecture firm. As you can see, this site has been designed to reflect the clean lines and impressive spaces that the architecture itself conveys. The compliment of the web design to the actual architecture is meant to drive the site visitor's curiosity as well as confidence in Brach Design.

Enjoy.

photography company branding

Michael Tallman, a professional photographer, recently moved from the east coast to Salt Lake City. While the wedding photography industry can be quite competitive, Michael Tallman stands apart with the artistic angle that encapsulates the emotion of the event. Wold Creative Group was brought in to help create the brand that incorporates the same artistic bent within the logo itself.

What we came up with is a modern logo that centers on clean lines and circles that incorporate the concept of a lens flare.

fantis report

In order to position the Fantis Group as the authority within the Salt Lake City market, we have come with the Fantis Report. This report shows unique stats and charts for the real estate market within Utah as well as gives advice about the current market trends. Distributing this report to a targeted audience of around 30,000, this report will allow the Fantis Group to be the real estate authority within this targeted audience. Below is the cover.

new life branding continued

The logo is just the beginning of the brand. The next step for New Life was to have business cards to that are consistent to their new brand. enjoy.

As a side note, the back side of the business card is real estate that everyone should be utilizing. Think of that area as a small little billboard.

amber technology logo

As a part of the branding package that we are doing for Amber Technology, we have come up with a new logo for their company. The focus of this company is to provide herbal supplements for animals. Thus, we have incorporated paw prints within the logo design while highlighting the fact that this is green technology.

Focusing on a clean, architectural look, we developed this proposal to show off the contemporary residential designs that Brach Design is known for.

ad example

This is an AD made for a publication whose audience is made up of a ski instructors. The obvious correlation here is the idea that the ski instructors will be able to understand that need for guidance or help since they provide that service on a daily basis. While they might be able to help those that would like to ski, the Fantis Group can help them in their real estate endeavors. enjoy.

Misty Mountain Property AD

Misty Mountain Property is based in Ogden Valley, UT. Given the fact that outdoor activities during the winter season is such a draw for this mountain valley, we have come up with the following AD to capitalize on this. Marketing the "life" rather than just the homes themselves can be an inventive way for a Real Estate agency to get the attention of their target audience.

Brach Design logo

Brach Design is a contemporary architecture firm based in Salt Lake City, UT. With the slogan "good design is always green", Brach Design has proved well that design can, in fact, be environmentally friendly while still being on the cutting edge of artistic expression and functionality.

Establishing this brand within a relatively new market for Brach Design was the challenge we have been presented with. Given that situation, we have come up with the following logo and brand for Brach Design. The logo itself is angular, clean and stands apart from the competition while being solid enough to stand on its own.

New Life logo

A church within the Bay Area in California has decided to go through a branding change when they moved to a new building. Thus, New Life Covenant Church was formed and we were hired to assist this process.

In order to encapsulate the idea of "growth" as well as Christianity, the following logo was designed for New Life. With a contemporary feel, this new brand of the church should help them to reach a greater audience as well as emphasize that growth potential that the church is experiencing.

RJ Connections logo

RJ Connections is an educational video company based in Central Valley, CA. While their website is still in the works, their logo is complete. The obvious market here is to educators, teachers and parents so that RJ Connection's educational videos can get to a greater audience of students. Since their videos are of the basic sciences, light blue and yellow were used to incorporate the natural elements of a sky while still being appropriate for both a young as well as adult-educator audience.

AD Campaign

Here is an example of consistency through an AD campaign. While keeping a similar style and messaging, this ad is mainly an "image AD" to introduce the audience to Fantis Group, a new Real Estate company. Even though this is a new brand, with the images and layout, this AD was made to create a sophisticated, established look for Fantis Group. Thus, we are implementing two key elements of a brand within these ADs, consistency and credibility.

7th Rig branding

7th Rig is a Hollywood-based production company. Currently producing a major motion picture, 7th Rig hired Wold Creative Group to help brand their company according to their direction and goals. With suspense and thriller movies as a backbone, 7th Rig needed a logo that was industrial, professional but also had an bit of mystery.

The final logo, pictured below, will be used for their corporate branding and image. We will be working with 7th Rig in order to create variations of this logo that will be used on the big screen.

Powder Mountain ad

Powder Mountain has some strategic advantages within their market that we are highlighting within a new print ad. While we could just come out and say it, alluding to the fact that Powder Mountain doesn’t have the lines at the lifts while having plenty of powder for everyone, even on a Saturday afternoon, is best done through a simple photo and small statement. This ad is simple, and that was done on purpose so that it will get noticed in midst of all of the other ski ads within the magazine. Enjoy.
